Volunteer

Dates are already set for 2017 and StandDown events are taking place all over our state!

Check below for all current volunteer opportunities available for all AVSA StandDown events.

PLEASE NOTE: With the exception of the Maricopa County StandDown, which is coordinated by the Arizona Housing Coalition (formerly AZCEH) and AVSA, all annual StandDown events are coordinated and maintained by local leaders and veterans organizations in Cochise County, Coconino County, Gila County, Graham/Greenlee Counties, La Paz County, Mohave County, Pima County, Pinal County, Yavapai County, and Yuma County. While AVSA provides financial and technical assistance to these locations, all logistics, including volunteer management, is coordinated by local leaders and veterans organizations.

Additionally, if you know of a StandDown event not listed here, or in our StandDown Events Calendar, please email us so we may reach out to them.

    VOLUNTEERS:

There are THREE ways to volunteer at the 2018 Maricopa County StandDown.

    3) GUEST GUIDES - GREATEST NEED!
Over 2,000 Guest Guide volunteers are needed for the two-day event. If you would like to serve as a Guest Guide working directly with veterans one-on-one to help them navigate the 70+ service providers, please check back here or watch for volunteer information directly from our volunteer coordination partner, Valley of the Sun United Way.

    2) REGISTRATION TABLE
Up to 100 volunteers are needed on Thursday AND Friday to assist at the Registration Table. These volunteers are responsible for greeting and processing registration for homeless and at-risk veterans by completing registration forms for those veterans attending the 2018 Maricopa County StandDown. Please check back for more volunteer information coming soon!

    1) PRE-EVENT SETUP
On-site set-up often begins as early as three days before the event. Please check back for pre-event set-up shifts and other volunteer information coming soon!
